Dear Christ Church Parishioners,

I am writing to let you know that one of our staff members contracted Covid-19 last week. I first heard about the exposure last Saturday night and immediately cancelled all choral singing in services in the main sanctuary. Subsequently, I found that three members of the choir also tested positive. As a precaution, six staff members and nine volunteers were advised to self-quarantine for two weeks. None of these individuals were in church on Sunday.

The good news is, among the four who tested positive, one person is asymptomatic, the other three are feeling a bit better, and none have been admitted to the hospital. Please continue to pray for our Christ Church family members who have been affected by Covid-19, and for those who are taking care of them.

Because some people have asked, please know that none of the clergy were exposed, and thus will be at their stations as usual on Sunday.

This is a good time to remind you that all surfaces are disinfected before and after every service and are deep-cleaned professionally regularly. Additionally, the clergy are regularly tested for exposure to Covid-19, they wash their hands thoroughly before each service and use liberal amounts hand sanitizer immediately prior to administering communion.

For your part, please continue to help by wearing your mask, by observing social distance protocols, and practicing good hand hygiene.

The clergy and senior lay staff will be revisiting our policies and procedures surrounding small group gatherings to be sure that we are all safe and well. We will continue to follow guidance from the CDC, our Diocese, and the health care community, and we will keep you apprised as we are made aware of situations that affect all of us.

As always, we encourage you to contact us with questions and concerns.

Every blessing,
Fr. Tom
