Christ Church Distinguished Service Cross Honorees

Each year, a few parishioners who are deeply involved in the ministries of the church are recognized with the Christ Church Distinguished Service Cross. Last week during the Parish Appreciation event, that honor went to (pictured, left to right) Kathy Lowery, Carolyn Sutton, Bernie Golczynski, Madeleine Tavares.

Kathy Lowery joined Christ Church with her husband Bob in 2005. She always has a dedicated “can do” attitude in all things and at all times. Among her many ministries since she joined the church: the Justice Ministry and the Nehemiah Assemblies, the San Pablo Altar Guild since 2007, Hospitality and Meal Ministry at the Center for Spirituality, Healing Prayer Minister, longtime member of the San Pablo leadership Team, strategic planning team for the Center for Spirituality, Liturgical Arts Minister and Stephen Ministry.

Carolyn Sutton joined Christ Church in 1979 and has been active ever since. Described as a quiet and steady saint working to share God’s love, her many ministries over the years include: Altar Guild Ministry, Youth Ministry, Archives Committee, Cursillo, Discovery programs, handbell choir, DayBreak Development Team, Parish Life Committee and narrator in the Last Hours of Christ dramatic presentation.

Bernie Golczynski joined Christ Church with his wife Phyllis in 2002. Described as a willing servant with a big heart, he has extended his ministry to serve others beyond the walls of the church. His involvement over the years includes: Justice Ministry and the Nehemiah Assembly, Fellowship in Shared Homes, Stephen Minister since its beginning, Intercessory Prayer Team, Christ Church Community Garden, St. Mary’s Summer Sunshine camp campus visits, and the Christ Church Butterfly Garden.

Madeleine Tavares has been attending Christ Church with her husband Joe since 1991. Described as a “minister of the heart” by those with whom she serves, her ministry includes: Fellowship in Shared Homes, Lector Ministry, Choir and Handbell Choir member, Cursillo, Discovery, St. Francis Ministry, Off Site Parking Volunteer, St. Lydia’s Guild, Last Hours of Christ, Justice Ministry and Nehemiah Assembly, Pastoral Care, Stephen Ministry, Prayer Shawl, Intercessory Prayer, and Christ Church Cares leadership team.
